Usually copywriting services are priced right. In my experience most copy jobs are priced right. Likewise, I believe copywriting should net the writer a sizable profit because the result to the user or client is revenue generation. So, it should pay exceptionally well.

By the same token it should do its job and make the user new profits and create value. I should also build new clientele. Copywriting that costs money should yield money. However, an occasional savings on copywriting jobs can benefit both the writer and the user.

Save money on copy jobs by:

Recruit students. Students are often new to the game. As a result, they may help you out at a reduced rate. Usually students recognize the value of hard and thorough work so they will do a good job. You could track down some talent locally at colleges or university’s and across the globe through the web.

Respect their time and personality and you may end up with great copy.

Start copy projects. Your copywriter may give you a discount if you start the job. This puts their work at half-mast. Write a really good or nearly good copy piece and submit it for consideration. If your copy person has to do less work because you have developed the foundation you may get billed a lower rate. This is also known as developmental editing.

Refer business. If you know other individuals or business owners who rely on copy services, refer them. I am sure your copy consultant would appreciate the referral. Word of mouth (WOM) is a priceless way to get business. Help others get business and you can reap benefits. Your ability and willingness to provide your copywriter with this is sure to yield some rewards.

As time goes on WOM marketing is becoming a key marketing tactic.

Use this to save money on your own marketing expenses.

The more you maximize your marketing budget the more you improve your resources. Don’t hesitate to save money when the opportunity is available.

When setting up your own online business it’s paramount you check out the competition, especially if you want to get one over on the opposition. Such is the world of internet marketing and having a good understanding of what else is out there, how they operate and how crowded your market is is just the beginning. You’re also going to need to be familiar with the demand that exist for your product/service and to truly stand out among the crowd you need to be intimately familiar with what that crowd consists of and what your audience are looking for.

Researching Competitors’ Websites

Luckily, finding information on the state of the market is simple in the world of online business. Simply head over to the search engine of your choice and type in a relevant keyword and you’ll immediately be presented with a list of sites that relate to yours. Now have a closer look at these sites – what are they doing to promote themselves? What is the quality like? What kind of advertisers are they in cahoots with? What is their marketing strategy? How have they integrated principles of SEO? How have they monetised their site? These are just a few examples of the kinds of things to be checking up on.

How Many Competitors Should You Expect?

Another thing to check is how much competition is out there. Once you’ve searched your keyword, count how many relevant results come up and this should give you an idea of how saturated your niche is. To make the search more specific surround your search term with quotation marks to make sure the engine searches for that exact phrase.

So let’s imagine you are starting up a business providing copywriting based in California. You might then pick your keyword as ‘California copywriting services’. When you type this into Google without quotation marks it might come up with around 100,000 results. Try it again with the quotes and you should find it’s drastically reduced, this handy tip should prevent you from having to trawl through pages of irrelevant material. Time is money!

Learn From the Sponsored Results

Now look at the sites that come up that have sponsored results – these will be the top three or four and will usually have a header above them saying ‘sponsored results’ or something similar. They may also be a different colour or font. These sites are note-worthy as they must be making some kind of profit to be able to afford to sponsor the search results – they’re doing something right and you can learn from them. Again, see what they’re selling, how they’re laying out their site and generally what their business model is. If you look at these as well as the ‘standard’ search results and you use some intuition, you should be able to learn a fair bit.

However as you’re doing your research, try not to get put off or scared by the opposition. While there may be many other sites catering to your audience that is usually a sign that the audience is large enough to warrant a vast range of sites. Likewise if there are only very few sites similar to yours it means the audience is small – but that there isn’t much providing for them currently. Just make sure you do your research and you shouldn’t run into any trouble. See what they’re doing well at and then do it better. If they have a professional looking colour scheme – make yours even more professional. If their navigation is confusing on the other hand learn from it and ensure yours is clear and easy to follow.

Other Ways to Check for Demand

Other than looking at the competition there are other ways to find out find out whether there is room for another site in your particular niche and we’ll go through a few of them here.

One method is to look at online article directories. From here you can see how many articles rather than entire websites there are dealing with your business interests. Again this should reflect demand so that if there are lots of articles you should find there is high demand and vice versa. You can also follow the links attached to these articles to find more sites.

Another strategy is to join forums, social networks and discussion groups on your topic. From here you can gather a lot of insider information on what your market is looking for/missing. For example if you owned a bodybuilding website you might sign up to a bodybuilding forum and see what articles the members have enjoyed and which sites they frequent. You can even ask for feedback directly from the group (though be careful, some forums don’t take kindly to you posting links – check the rules of the site before you do).

You can also check out the analogue alternative – books and magazines (you know, those old things!). Again these must be making a profit to stay afloat so they’re clearly doing something right. Even the advertising here can give you an insight into the state of the market.

So there you have it, plenty of information on how to find inspiration for your online marketing strategy! Now to ensure success make sure you try and come up with a unique angle and strategy and to pick your niche wisely. Learn from the opposition and have one ear to the state of the industry at all times. Absorb the useful and reject the useless. Good luck!

Well, when you decide that you do need a copywriter, after giving it much thought, your search for copywriters start. But there are two sorts of copywriting source. One, you have the copywriting services, where a team of copywriters works for you. Two, you have the freelance copywriters.

Now, the question is which are better – freelance copywriters or copywriting services?

Well, there are several points which you need to understand before you make your decision in someone’s favor. But it would be wise to say that I would always prefer a freelance copywriter.

To be honest, there are several reasons behind why I would choose a freelance copywriter.

One, the rates of copywriting services is rather high. They have already set their fixed working rate and you either take it or leave it. In the case of the freelance writer, you will much more flexibility.

Firstly, you can get a decent freelance copywriter working at a quite nominal rate (I am not talking about the top-notch famous freelance copywriters, of course). Well, some of them do charge normal fees. Secondly, you can always negotiate with them. That’s a plus point.

This leads to our second point.

Two, why would you ever want to negotiate the price? Well, it depends on the project specifications. And only a freelance copywriter can attend to the project specifications in a better way. A freelance copywriter is synonymous with better clearer communication, no doubt. This is lacking with copywriting services. Delayed communication and lack of flexibility in work is something that irks me when working with the copywriting services.

The third point is rather a bit personal.

Three, I would definitely want to know the background of the freelance copywriter before I hire him.

When I am looking to create a long-term relationship with someone, I would rather want to know more about him. This is possible in the case of the freelance copywriters. But is this possible with the copywriting services? Forget it. You apply to their service and they provide you the work for a price. There is no way of knowing who the talented writer behind it is. Very sad!

So, considering the above points, I would say, between the freelance copywriters and copywriting services, I would always choose the freelance copywriters, any day of the week.
