Search Engine Marketing or SEM is really a type of web advertising which is quite distinctive from traditional method of advertising. The objective of SEM is global whereas traditional advertising is supposed to address needs of specific region or local clan of consumers. SEM was created to obtain the business or product ranked for the higher echelons within the right hand side from the search engine results with the Google AdWords campaigns, or YSM in Yahoo. SEM is really a paid campaign where ultimate purpose of the advertiser would be t rank on top by paying out highest bid amount. The text ads of your advertisers to the right hand side would be the sponsored ads that the Google charges per click basis.

Traditional advertising reaches for the masses by means of expensive electronic media. Furthermore, creating the particular ad campaign for traditional advertising can also be very costly.

It is primarily the expensive characteristics of traditional media over the SEM which makes small and medium sized business entities fall directly for the economical SEM strategies.

Pull Versus Push Based Advertising

SEM is really a pull based advertising whereas the more common advertising is push based marketing. This means that whenever you opt for the online advertising, you might have real prospective traffic visiting you. The prospective traffic is enthusiastic about buying your products and services, and you also do not have to shout directly to them to purchase your services or products. However, in the event of traditional advertising, this is simply not the case, because it is the advertiser that has to approach the customers found in the target market and shout for product/service.

Track of Potential Customers/Visitors

Again underneath the innovative as well as smart SEM technique, the advertiser can certainly keep your track of potent customers/visitors by using user-friendly and straightforward web analytics software such as Google analytics, clicktracks etc.

In this way, the advertiser can learn about real ROI of the money spent on the market. In line with the ROI, the advertiser can wisely optimize the campaign. However, from the traditional advertising method, this is just not realistic. There isn’t any actual and appropriate method where one can really calculate the entire of target customers which will fall on your product or hire your services.

Effect on Sales and Profits

An advertiser through SEM can reach towards the maximum number of consumers inside a limited time period, and also this is merely in the case of traditional advertising. In the event of traditional advertising, it could take even months prior to the real effect of advertising could be acknowledges. SEM provides long-term profits. Even though you have stopped SEM campaign, you can keep to obtain increased sales ever and ever after.

However, in the event of traditional advertising, the increase in profits is only short-term. As soon as you’ve stopped advertising about your product or service or services, the sales figure dips down.

Cost and Budgeting of Advertising

SEM is really a fast track and economical method of advertising, in contrast to traditional advertising which is really a slow process method and costly kind of promotion. With the above comparison, one can possibly easily reach towards the conclusion, that when you really want to save cash and reach globally in a very fast way, then SEM could be the only approach to opt for.

People have various ways to chat with each other via the internet. You can use browser-based systems or stand-alone software package. There are Gmail – a chat feature by Google and Yahoo Messenger -  a staple for ages. Nevertheless, no chatting systems can compare to Facebook’s integrated social chat.

Since Facebook has such a wide and established user base, odds are most of your friends have one. This makes everyone readily accessible; if you and your friends use Facebook, you can chat with them.

While some people prefer Skype over AIM, both groups probably have Facebook pages. So that means you won’t have to pick one or the other. Obtaining people’s e-mail addresses and finding out which service they use gets thrown out completely.

Having all your friends in one place (figuratively) is probably the best part about Facebook chat.

And why it seems so much better than other chat services.

Another thing that makes Facebook chat so great is the fact that people usually stay on Facebook for hours at a time. If you use your e-mail to chat, odds are you are only on it when you’re checking your e-mail; it doesn’t make you very available.

Facebook, however, can stay open in the background while you work at the office. You can switch between doing your work and checking your Facebook, which makes you much more accessible to your friends.

Facebook’s simple interface also contributes to the popularity of its chat platform. It allows a lot of people, who might not necessarily be technologically inclined, to communicate with each other very easily.

This lends credence to the fact that if you make something easy to use, people will want to use it.

E-mail is one of the fastest ways of communication over the internet and we have to use emails regularly in order to communicate with our friends, relatives, clients, colleagues, customers etc. With the advancement in technology computer systems are becoming faster as well as speed of internet. This speed saves our time by processing the tasks in the background faster. Email systems (at least Google Mail) are following this trend and trying to make our email experience even better.

One of the most important aspects of using email systems is how quickly you can perform different tasks. Opening an email, tracing history of email conversation, adding files as email attachment, composing new emails, replying emails, organizing emails into groups, finding old emails from mailbox, wait for new emails to arrive etc. If you have used Gmail then chances are that you will say it is fastest in performing all these tasks in comparison to other email systems out there such as Yahoo Mail, Hotmail etc.

Gmail does not refresh the whole page when you click a link, instead it just reload only that section of the page that needs to display new information. Also Gmail automatically checks for new emails and updates the page automatically if there is new arrival, so you do not have to keep on clicking refresh button of your web browser. When you want to attach a file as email attachment, you will not be redirected to a new page to perform this small task, you can do it on the same page and you will see the file upload progress in real time.

Organizing your mails is one task that saves your time and from the stress of searching old mails and comparing their email conversation history. In Gmail you can see assign labels to emails in order to group your emails whereas in other email systems you have to move your emails to separate folders in order to group them. Also Gmail labels do not hide your emails from Inbox, it treats labels as tags to emails and you can add multiple labels to a single email. Gmail comes with a new concept of tabbing previous email conversation and you can see the summary of all your email history in a small area, this makes you view associated emails in a chronological order and it keeps on recording new actions with time.

Gmail provides a great email experience to its users. Speed, usability, simplicity are to name a few experiences. I was big fan of Yahoo Mail and also liked some features of Hotmail but all this changed after I signed up for Gmail account. It took me some time to get used to with the new e-mail system and probably more time in exploring and learning different features. Gmail is a speedy e-mail and I do not think there is a better email system on the internet.

1 Content -
As simple as it sounds this is the number one for any search marketing strategy, it is extremely important to ensure that you have content worth viewing. Without this one simple step to ensure that there is a reason for someone to be on your site, everything else is useless. There are a lot of great sites to find inspiration for writing great content that works. But there is also some real rubbish, rehashed and automated sites that are outdated and useless, which users rapidly click out of, which google dislikes alot. So write unique compelling content which will keep your users on your site, hopefully they will purchase, sign up, or do what you want them to.
2 Incoming Links -
A link is a link is a link, but without the simplest form you arent going to do well in search engines. The more links you have the more often you are going to be crawled. It is also important to make sure that you have the proper anchor text for your incoming links. The easiest way to gain quality links from other sites is to link to sites to let them know your site is there and hope for a reciprocal link. It is also important to make sure that you have content that is worth linking to on your site, and is related to the site your backlinking from.
3 Web site title -
Making sure that you have the right web site titles for your pages is extremely important. The keywords you place in your title are important in order to ensure that your topic is understood by Google. One of the primary factors for ranking is if the title is on-topic with the search results. Not only is it important for robots to index and understand the topic of the page, it is also important for click-through rates in the search results. Pay attention to what you click on when you are searching in Google, I know that I dont always click the first results. Using great titles and topics on your site will bring you more traffic than a number one listing. Most of the time it is within the first page, but I skim through the titles to see which looks to be more on-topic for my search query.
4 Heading tags -
When you are laying out your sites content you have to be sure that you are creating the content flow in such a way that the heading tags are based on prominence. The most prominent of course being the h1 tag, which says this is what this block of copy is about. Making sure you understand heading tag structure is very important. You only want to have one (or two) h1 tags per a page. It is important to not just throw anything into an h1 tag and hope you rank for it.
5 Internal Linking -
Making sure that your internal linking helps robots (and visitors!) to find the content on your site is important. Using relevant copy throughout your site will tell the robots (and visitors!) more effectively what to expect on the corresponding page. You do want to make sure that on pages you dont want to rank in Google that you add a nofollow tag to ensure that the ranking flow of your site corresponds with your sites topic and interests. No one is going to be searching Google to find out what your terms of service or privacy policy are.
6 Keyword Density -
Ensuring that you have the right keyword density for your page and sites topic is paramount. You dont want to go overboard and use the keyword every 5th word, but making sure it appears often is going to help you rank better in search engines. The unspoken rule is no more then 5% of the total copy per page. Anymore than this and it can start to look a little spammy. Granted, you arent shooting for 5% every time. It is really all about context and relevance just make sure it is good, unique, quality copy.
7 Sitemaps -
It is always a good idea to give search engines a helping hand to find the content that is on your site. Making sure that you create and maintain a sitemap for all of the pages on your site will help the search robots to find all of the pages in your site and index them. Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask, all support sitemaps and most of them offer a great way to ensure that it is finding your sitemap. Most of the time you can simply name it sitemap.xml and the search robot will find the file effectively.
8 Meta Tags -
Everyone will tell you that meta tags dont matter, well, they do. The biggest thing they matter for is click-through. There will be a lot of times when Google will use your meta description as the copy that gets pulled with your search listing. This can help to attract the visitor to visit your web site if it is related to their search query. Definitely a much overlooked (as of late) ranking factor. Getting indexed by search engines and ranking well is just the first step. The next, and biggest, step is getting that visitor that searched for your keywords to want to click on your search listing.
9 URL Structure -
Ensuring that your URL structure compliments the content that is on the corresponding page is pretty important. There are various methods to make this work, such as modrewrite on apache.
10 Domain -
It can help to have keywords you are interested in ranking for within your domain, but only as much as the title, heading and content matters. One very important factor that is coming to light is domain age. The older the site or domain, the better it is not spam and can do well in search results. The domain age definitely isnt a make or break factor but it does help quite a bit.

Backlinks are essential to a website’s success. Search engines such as Google and Yahoo determine a website’s popularity by looking at the number of backlinks (also known as inbound links) to a site from other pages. Building a strong base of backlinks to your website is hands down the best thing you can do to build your site’s page rank; however, quality counts just as much as quantity. Backlinks from sites with high page rank are best, while backlinks from disreputable or spam sites can actually hurt you.

Below, you’ll find some easy tips for building more backlinks to your page.

1. Submit articles to article directories. Article marketing is an easy method for building quality backlinks. When you post an article to an article directory service such as EzineArticles, you are allowed to post links back to your site in the article and in the resource box.

This creates backlinks to your page. If another website picks up your website for publication, you’ll get additional backlinks from that website.

2. Write a press release and release it through a wire service. A distribution service such as PRWeb will distribute your press release (with links included) to the news section of each search engine, where it can then be picked up by other websites, blogs, and online newspapers.

3. Answer questions in a Q & A community. Sites like Wiki Answers and Yahoo! Answers allow people to answer questions and provide links to “resources” on the Web. Look for questions pertaining to your product or service and then answer the question and include a link to your page. Be sure to provide a valuable answer to avoid being banned.
