Pagerank is an algorithm created by Larry Page and licensed exclusively to Google. As someone with an interest in getting onto search engine results pages in order to better promote your product or service, you’ll want to know something about how pagerank works. You might also want to know whether any of the dodgy methods you’ve heard whispered about in dark corners for using it to improve SEO actually work. What would a good SEO company tell you about pagerank? There are, after all, foolish ideas in every sphere of human enterprise. We’ve prepared some simple tips on what to gravitate towards and what to avoid when it comes to page rank. We hope it’ll prove useful to the professionals and the uninitiated alike. 1. How can you manage page rank? Well, there are really just two sensible ways. You can get more external links to pages on your site and you can try to register users linking from within as well as without.

The first method needs to be accomplished by means of good link building strategies, and it’s true of both methods that link building services can help. The second way involves avoiding page rank from visitors being distributed among many pages on a site, since it’s optimal to have all visitors counted as visiting one. Google is very much aware of the techniques that have been employed to this end, and none of them, really work well. 2. How not to manage page rank? As a rule, using any technology outside Google itself for monitoring page rank is unwise. Use it for researching links, by all means, but assuming that Google would allow anyone to know more than they do about their own methods is virtual madness. 3. Don’t count links. If you’re specifically concerned with counting the number of links then you’re probably approaching SEO in the wrong way. Remember that it’s not quantity but quality that counts, and that search engines like Google decided long ago to punish bad practice. Buying a lot of links in the hope of increasing pagerank, for example, could prove to be counter-productive. 4. Get good quality links. Google assign higher importance to link to a site from authoritative sources. If you want to do something to improve your pagerank, implement a good link building strategy. Try to get links to your sit from domains that are ‘edu (education) .gov (government) .ac (academic). Learn about other domains that have importance online or from SEO link building experts. Having said this, it’s useful to point out that Google still hold all the cards when it comes to pagerank. It’s exclusive to Google and they aren’t telling us how exactly it works. Google’s algorithm is its own and its filters are too. We can make educated guesses and informed choices only. 5. Don’t try to hide pages from indexes. Privacy policies don’t prevent pages from being visible to search engines. 6. Consider the design of the site in terms of usability and ad location. Search engines want to rank pages well that provide relevant, high quality content to users. It makes sense really, when you think about what function you expect a search engine to perform. Keep in mind that good practice is also good SEO and that if your site is good for users it will also perform well when it comes to pagerank. 7. Feature fresh content that’s updated regularly. One of the key factors concerned in pagerank is surely having new content on your pages. Google takes this seriously and it’s another instance of good practice being good SEO. 8. Use keywords wisely. Remember to analyse the words that users are typing into query boxes carefully. Take them into account at all times with a view to improving page rank. Beware of overusing them, though. Google have sophisticated methods of monitoring overuse and penalties can be severe. In conclusion, pagerank is probably still as mysterious to you as it is to us. It is to everyone outside Google, to some degree. What’s certain, as illustrated here in our eight tips, is that you can’t get around it and you can’t ignore it. The best way of getting results is to act like it didn’t exist. Create a site that’s useful. Feature keywords cleverly and don’t overfill your site with them. Don’t try to cheat Google, you’ll lose. Get good quality (authoritative) links. Get good!

If you have a website you need to keep it updated. You need to give more to your visitors to ponder on and have fun with. Search engines tend to reward highly active and updated websites with higher page ranking. Higher page ranking means your website poses in first few results in the search engine’s result page. The best way to increase activity and keep your website alive is to have a forum. Forum is a place in the website where people can post reviews, ask questions and basically discuss and interact on everything related to your product or service. This is called as forum posting . It is very difficult to keep a forum going active and alive. The reason being, either people are bored of not being answered or they are getting nowhere with their questions. The reason for this is the forum is made up of users who themselves have very limited knowledge of the product or service. A great way to avoid such a situation is to appoint forum posting services . These are made up of members who are well aware of the know-hows of the topic related to your website’s theme. If any member asks question, they get well educated, authentic, working replies from the posting service providers. This way, people would want to register to your forum to know more about what is happening and a sense of trust will build. You can either post the content under your name and pay the service or employ few members of the service to answer on your behalf under fictitious names. This way spammers can be monitored as well. When there is a high activity your site will get indexed in major search engines, which is a huge boost to your site. Hence better the topic, better chances of posing in first few search results! The best part of forum posting is that once a question has been answered or a hot debate has taken place in your forum, it will remain in the internet memory forever. That is, it gets archived. So when someone new wants to dig out the topic, he/she can easily do that by just doing an internal search of your website. This way you will get more and more hits for having posts which are not new neither recently discussed. Yet, just the fact they have been discussed can bring you more traffic. People who care for you (remember the trust building part?, will give real answers to your even real problems regarding your products, services and marketing. Real people giving real feedbacks! All these factors are like domino effects and can really help your site leap into higher ranking positions in search engines. It also serves the purpose of marketing your products, services and new offers. It projects you as a knowledgeable person with an empathetic ear for other’s problems. Use forum posting services for boosting your website and business.

Traffic Building for your Free Forum

Automatic Link Building

We all know the importance of your forum ranking high in Googles

Search engines. When people key in a particular subject type of forum

(example: work at home forum, shoe forum, house forum ect…..)their main objective is to come up on the first page of the results. First page means, more visit to your forum. More visits to your forum means more people will see your advertisement, opportunity, or post. Meaning you make more money.

My first report at New works forum explained the number one importance of having the right domain name for your forum. ***remember*** Most Free Forums do not give you this option. This is the number one key to getting top placement in the search engines.

Be sure to read my previous post on choosing a Free Forum.

My second report explained the importance of on-page optimization and my third report explain the importance of off-page optimization, using link building strategies. This report will tell you more about proper linking and automatic linking.

Proper Linking

Although Link Building can promote your free forum, bring more traffic, and get you good placement in Google search engine, link building can be a time consuming strategy. If you do not understand the world of linking you can spend hours and hours submitting your link to directories and forums.

Example:

You submit your link to a directory that has a page ranking by google of (1).

Did you know that in order for your free forum to even get a page ranking of 1, you would have to submit to 1,000 PR1 directories or forums. I advise that you try and link to only PR3 and higher sites, because the effort you have to put in will be worth the time.

Automatic Linking

This procedure can only be used if you register for a free forum

Using Free Forum Forums, your free forum will be automatically placed on 100 PR 3 webpages.

I’m not old enough to remember the days when a telephone call required an operator to connect the two parties, but I know those days existed.

Webinar technology has followed a similar path. Early webinar technology was slow, clunky, unreliable and often required IT support staff on hand to make it work. But that’s no longer the case. The technology is fairly easy to use for a reasonably competent computer user, and certainly for any business owner who uses other software regularly.

Webinar technology might be unfamiliar to you, but that’s true of anything new! I hope that doesn’t stop you from dipping your toes in the water and getting started.

If you’re new or nervous about doing webinars, here are seven tips and techniques to make it easier.

1. Be an audience member

If you’ve never participated in a webinar, let alone presented one, you’re at a distinct disadvantage. However, this is easy to fix. Every day, there are many free webinars available for you to join, and you should try a few, just so you experience them from an audience member’s viewpoint.

Just search Google for “free webinar”, and register for the webinars. The only disadvantage is many of them are in inconvenient time zones, so it might involve waking up in the middle of the night to participate!

Failing that, you can learn a lot by watching recordings of past webinars. WebEx, one of the big webinar providers, has a site called “Pass The Ball” (Google it), where you can view recordings of webinars with high-profile experts:

2. Offer it free

Your first face-to-face presentation probably wasn’t a paid keynote to a packed auditorium. In the same way, your first webinar doesn’t have to be a big event. Start small, with a free webinar for a few trusted clients or colleagues.

Be up-front with them about this being a trial for you, so you set their expectations appropriately.

For example, when I was first investigating teleseminars (even before I started doing webinars), I promoted my first teleseminar to my newsletter subscribers like this (you might remember it!):

“I’ve got a very special gift this week: A teleseminar about podcasting. There’s no charge at all – this is 100% complimentary. Why? First, because I’d like to give you a gift as a subscriber. Second, because I’m planning on doing many teleseminars next year, so this is a trial run.”

3. Use reliable technology

The more uncertainties you introduce, the more likely it is something will go wrong. For instance, if you’re planning to use your mobile phone from an area with poor reception, it’s a disaster just waiting to happen! Sometimes this is unavoidable, in which case you just have to do it anyway. But if there’s anything you can do to improve reliability, do it!

4. Don’t over-use the technology

By all means use technology, but don’t feel you have to use every feature of your webinar service just because it is available. Use as little as you need to get by without losing impact.

If you present frequently, this is the perfect opportunity to gradually build up your skills. For example, I regularly deliver complimentary webinars as marketing tools to get new clients. Because I sometimes deliver the same topic over and over again, I keep refining and improving it – for example:

The first time I delivered it as an audio-only presentation, without any visuals. The next time I prepared a PowerPoint presentation and included that in the webinar. The next time I included live examples using a Web browser. The next time I added polls during the presentation.

5. Script it

Because your participants can’t see you, you can use lots of notes – even to the extent of scripting your entire presentation (as long as you know it won’t sound like you’re reading out loud). At the very least, print out your slides so you can refer to them while speaking.

I do something slightly more elegant (which saves paper and prevents rustling of notes). I save my slide show as a PDF file, transfer it to my phone, and prop up the phone on my laptop during the webinar.

6. Call in early

Start the webinar early, and open it for participants at least 10 minutes before the official start. This gives you the chance to chat informally with the first few people who join, so at least you know there are some friendly people listening when you’re later presenting.

This is like standing at the entrance of a training room and shaking hands with participants as they enter the room. You establish rapport, create a personal connection and break down barriers between you and the audience.

7. Have a backup plan

If participants can’t see your screen, can you e-mail them a PDF version of the relevant slides? If participants can’t join using a computer headset, do you have a plain telephone number they can call? If you drop out during the call, do you have somebody else who can take over temporarily while you re-connect?

You might never have to use any of these backup options, but it’s reassuring to know they exist!

How could YOU use this?

The most important theme that runs through this article is to start by taking “baby steps” – that is, not trying to do too much at once.

There really is no substitute for experience, though. If you know your stuff and you’re keen to deliver it by webinar, there’s nothing to be gained by putting it off. Even if it’s a bit intimidating at first, it doesn’t get any easier by procrastinating. So take the precautions I’ve mentioned, and then jump in!
